This double-CD best-of collection is geared around Cockburn's Canadian
singles -- an odd approach, considering that much of his strongest
material never enjoyed radio airplay. Because of that, WAITING FOR A
MIRACLE (SINGLES 1970-1987) isn't definitive, but it is a very good
collection. This is mainly because Cockburn is practically incapable
of writing a bad song. Nevertheless, Cockburn has yet to receive the
kind of treatment he deserves for a collection. WAITING FOR A MIRACLE
is the best overview of Cockburn's music, by default. (Canadian
